Here at WyoTech, we want our social media to be authentic. (For guidance on voice and tone for our social networks, see our Brand Voice.)

Overview

WyoTech does not tolerate bullying, harassment, hate speech, or discrimination.

When you post, keep in mind: You’re speaking on behalf of WyoTech. Post what you think is honest and will help our brand grow. 

Additionally, you’re responsible for the content you post online, as well as any consequences that could result.

Marketing Team Access

The WyoTech Marketing Team MUST have FULL access to ALL social media platforms associated with WyoTech. 

This includes: 

  • Usernames
  • Passwords

Social Media Rules and Regulations

Post/share relevant content. 

  • Post content that is related to your club, department, or role only.
  • Share (repost) content that is related to WyoTech or your club, department, or role 


Promote WyoTech.

  • Share, like, comment on content that promotes WyoTech in a positive way: “Our club is so thankful to be a part of WyoTech”.


Be honest.

  • Only share things that are factual and/or genuine.


Use common sense.

  • We all know what is acceptable for the work environment, and carrying that into the social media world is crucial.


If you post a picture with ANYTHING related to WyoTech, tag the correct social media handles.

  • Facebook: WyoTech-Laramie

  • TikTok: @wyo_tech
  • Twitter: @wyotech
  • Reddit: @wyotech_edu

 

What To Do With Comments, Direct Messages (DM), Replies, Etc.

When answering questions on social media, reply in the best way that you see fit for the situation, whether via comment or direct message.

Social Media Don’t’s

Don’t post negative words or replies.

  • This includes harsh comments and profanity.


Don’t post inappropriate content.

  • If you wouldn’t say it to or in front of your boss, DO NOT post it on the internet.


Don’t post anything that promotes competing companies.

  • Do not post or reshare things that are associated with promoting competing companies. (Do not bash other companies.)


    Don’t share financial figures.

    • Salary or hourly rates shall NOT be shared on social media.


    Don’t share work issues/drama.

    • Issues with the boss or coworker should not be shared on the internet.


    Don’t share new ideas within the company.

    • This includes programs, builds, rebranding, etc. 
    • Only share information that is for the external crowd.

     

    Photo/Video Sources and Media Releases 

    Any time you post a picture or video that you didn’t take, you must properly credit the source. 

    • When in doubt, cite the source.
    • Give credit where credit is due.

    If you take a picture or video of someone and tag WyoTech, make sure everyone in the picture has signed a media release form. To request a social media release form, please contact [email protected]

     

    Social Media Fonts and Colors

    When creating content for WyoTech social media, please stick to the following fonts: 

    • Georgia
    • Arial
    • Times New Roman
    • Lora
    • EB Garamond

     

    When creating content for WyoTech social media, please use the following colors: 

    • Red
    • Black
    • Gray
    • White

    Using Hashtags

    Use hashtags that are relevant to your post. For example:

    • #WOW 
    • wyotechcookingclub 
    • #wyotechstudentlife

    Accountability and Consequences

    Consequences for failing to follow these guidelines will be determined based on the situation. 

    Consequences may consist of:

    • Termination of club or members
    • Suspension
    • Pay cut
    • Warning
